Weissenborn
For over 25 years, I’ve been crafting Weissenborn-style guitars, drawing inspiration from my father’s lap steel playing and the rich musical atmosphere of my childhood home. Our slide guitars are cherished by musicians worldwide, including Barefoot Truth, Fred Kinbom, and Henry Kaiser. They were also a fixture on stage with the legendary David Lindley, a true pioneer of modern Weissenborn guitar playing.
Together with Ben Harper, Lindley helped revive the Weissenborn, an instrument originally popular in 1920s Hawaiian music. A dynamic performer across many genres, Lindley owned two custom Burgin Weissenborn-style guitars, specially fitted with pickups for live performance. He affectionately referred to them as his “Burgintwangers.” His extraordinary talent lives on in countless recordings, and many YouTube performances feature the distinctive sound of these instruments.
All Burgin guitars come with a premium hard case, ensuring your instrument is well-protected for a lifetime of music-making.
Weissenborn - Burgin Style One
Burgin Style One Weissenborns are meticulously handcrafted using sapele mahogany for the top, back, and sides, delivering warm, resonant tones with rich projection. Each instrument is elegantly bound in rosewood, complemented by black-and-white purfling around the top for a refined finish. The bridge and fretboard are typically rosewood, accented by a herringbone rosette that adds classic visual appeal.
We are proud to note that the legendary David Lindley used two of our Style One Weissenborns as his on-stage guitars, a testament to their exceptional tone, craftsmanship, and performance.

Burgin Style Two Weissenborns offer an elegant upgrade in decorative craftsmanship, featuring traditional rope binding meticulously handcrafted in our workshop from jarrah and maple. This intricate detailing adds timeless beauty and a touch of distinction, enhancing both the visual and artisanal appeal of the instrument while maintaining the rich tonal warmth and resonance that define Burgin Weissenborns.

Weissenborn - Burgin Style Three
Burgin Style Three Weissenborns are handcrafted using fallen-tree Tasmanian Blackwood, sustainably sourced from Australia. This exceptional tonewood, closely related to Koa, the original wood used in Hawaiian Weissenborn guitars, offers similar sound characteristics and stunning visual appeal. Known for its rich tonal warmth and striking grain patterns, Tasmanian Blackwood brings both beauty and superior acoustic performance to every instrument.
